Our Roots

Taking Root in English Soil

Picture this, south‑facing slopes, a bending estuary and 27,000+ vines in the ground. Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Precoce, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.

Thank you to Vinescapes for their know-how experience and expertise.

Summer 2021 and 2022

Biodiversity

A summer of Devon sunshine, cooled by sea breezes.

We drilled clover cover crops inter-vine to promote pollinators and beneficial insects. Traditional hedgerows, Devon banks and native trees were planted to form wildlife corridors to marry with the estate’s promise to biodiversity.

Early 2022

Growing Together

By early 2022, our regular team, locals and estate staff, embarked on their learning venture in the vineyard. Those early mornings had a quiet energy, sunlit vines, birdsong from the estuary and the satisfaction of giving those vines the very best chance to establish.

Late 2023

Harvest!

Late 2023 brought our first harvest. After a great growing season and some green harvesting, we took a small crop. The excitement in the vineyard was palpable. Thank you, Guy, at the English Wine Collection, for our harvest debut on film, one for the wine library!

Hand picked by our lovely local community, without whom we couldn’t have done it!

2024/ 25

Partnerships

From harvest, our grapes trundled to Itasca Winery, a partner who nurtured those early picks into our very first still wine, a mouth-watering Pinot Gris, the fruits of our labour!

Jodie Newman, Graphic Designer, worked hard behind the scenes with us to bring to life our branding.

Gnina Balchin, In the Loop Drinks, worked on making our Vermouth (2024) and our very first Rosé Spritz in cans, made for the beach!

Becky Bettesworth, local Artist, kindly allowed us to use the famous Bantham Beach artwork she made, on our cans, for a stunning finish!

Sandridge Barton Wines, local Winemakers, worked on making our Rosé (2025). A local relationship ethically forged, backing a neighbouring winery.
