BANTHAM BEACH PAINTING WORKSHOP

An outdoor painting experience with South Devon seascapes artist Ellie Verrecchia at vibrant Bantham Beach, South Hams.

Make your own coastal painting at beautiful Bantham beach, guided by local seascapes artist Ellie Verrecchia. The golden sand and the sound of the waves will inspire a painting on wood panel for you to take home.

Using simple techniques we’ll create our painting in quick-drying acrylic, based on our observations of the horizon, iconic land forms (including Burgh island) and sea from our shoreline vantage point.

No previous art experience is necessary. Artist Ellie Verrechia has plenty of simple hacks to help you see the South Devon coast in new ways!

All materials and aprons are provided. Dress for the weather – old comfy clothes ideal, and bring waterproofs, sun protection, something to sit on, and a drink. BANTHAM SWOOSH – 6th of July 2024

We are so excited to welcome back The Bantham Swoosh, world class 6km swim in the River Avon.

#THROWBACK2023 –  800 swimmers took part and finished under an epic downpour! Over £170,000 has been raised so far. That’s the equivalent of 10,000, bespoke, 1-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. Let that sink in for a minute.. The 2024 Bantham Swoosh is now sold out but don’t worry! You can still join the Bantham Swoosh Walk.

New this year for supporters who are dropping swimmers off in Aveton Gifford. The walk will be led by the Ramblers Associatio and means you can see the swimmers at certain places along the river and then meet everyone at the finish in Bantham. When registering, please choose the option to park at Aveton Gifford and then ‘guided walk’.

DRY STONE WALLING COURSE – 20th July 2024

Organised by Devon Rural Skills Trust. Dry stone walls are made entirely of stone with no mortar or soil. You’ll be working to repair a wall using basic hand tools such as lump hammers and bars. Shovels and mattocks are useful where footing need to be replaced.
