Dogs

On the Beach and the Estuary

We understand that dogs are part of the family and deserve to enjoy the seaside just as much as their human companions do. That’s why we have a designated dog-friendly beach area called the “River Beach” where your furry friend can run, play, and splash to their heart’s content!

Dogs are permitted on the River Beach all year round. The gatekeeper will be happy to give you directions when you arrive. The areas are also clearly signed.

Remember that dogs aren’t allowed on the main Beach from between May 1st and 30th September. The aim is to keep the beach clean and safe during the busier summer period, especially when lots of children are visiting the coast.

To access the dog beach follow these easy steps and enjoy a scenic walk with your furry friend:

1. Once you arrive at Bantham, leave your vehicle in the designated car park.
2. Begin your journey by walking through the beautiful sand dunes.
3. The walk is about 5 to 10 minutes through the Bantham Ham. Here, you can take in the magical views of Burgh Island.
5. As you arrive to the end of the Ham, keep an eye out for steps that will lead you to the river beach. These steps will guide you down to the water’s edge, where your canine companion can cool off and have a splash-tastic time!

Please keep your dog under control and clean up after them. Let’s keep our livestock safe and our beach clean.
